-7 -7 -7 -8 7 7 -6
She looks in the mir-ror and
  -6 -7 -8 7 -7 -6
stares at the wrin-kles that
  7 7 7 7 -7 -87
were-n't there yes-ter-day
 7 7 7 -8 8 8
And thinks of the young man
 -9 9 -9 8 -8 7
that she al-most mar-ried
-10 9 -9 8 -8 8 -9 8 -8 -7
What would he think if he saw her this way?

 6 -8 -8 7 -8 -8 7
She holds up her ap-ron in
-7 7 -8 7 -7 -6
Lit-tle girl fash-ion as
 -6 7 7 7 7 -7 -8 7
Some-thing comes in-to her mind
  7 7 7 -8 8 8
Then slow-ly starts danc-ing
-9 9 -9 8 -8 7
Re-mem-b’ring her girl-hood
 7 -10 9 -9 8 -8 8 -9 8 -9 9
And all of the boys she had wait-ing in line

-9 8 8 8 -9 8
Ah, such are the dreams of
 7 -9 8 7 -9 8
the ev-‘ry-day house-wife
 7 8 -9 9 -9 8 7 8 -8 7 -8
You see ev-‘ry-where an-y time of the day
  9 9 9 9 9 -8 -7 6
Like the ev-‘ry-day house-wife who
 -9 -9 -9 7 -6 7 7
gave up the good life for me

The photograph album she takes from the closet and slowly she turns the page
And carefully picks up the crumbling flower
The first one he gave her, now withered today

She closes her eyes and touches the house dress that suddenly disappears

And just for the moment she's wearing the gown
That broke all their minds back so many years

Oh, such are the dreams of the everyday housewife
You see ev'rywhere any time of the day
An everyday housewife who gave up the good life for me

Oh, such are the dreams of the everyday housewife
You see ev'rywhere any time of the day
An everyday housewife who gave up the good life for me

Oh, such are the dreams of the everyday housewife
You see ev'rywhere any time of the day
An everyday housewife who gave up the good life for me
